Major Decisions By The U.S. Supreme Court (NPR Diane Rehm Show 6/26/12) The U.S. Supreme Court has signaled to states that there are limits to their authority in dealing with undocumented immigrants. Yesterday the justices struck down most of Arizona's tough anti-illegal immigration law. Most see the decision as a win for the Obama administration. But supporters of the Arizona law were pleased the court upheld the provision dubbed "show me your papers." It requires police to check the status of suspected illegal immigrants. The nation's highest court also ruled that it's unconstitutional to give juveniles mandatory life sentences without parole.
