Dreams of a Male Dummy (145) Get very Rich and really healthy; alive by 2050; die at same time in 2050.

E-mail Print PDF

A Friend: “What up, Doc?”

The Wise Man: “The terrible winter is gone finally. For sure, the Earth is getting more hostile! I have a new idea.”

F: “What’s it!?”

W: “You know, science & technology has advanced so much & so fast, so that, for the very rich, life expectancy is high, and is getting higher at an exponential rate, thanks to AI, DNA editing tech, …”

F: “So what? I’m poor, and mine is short presumably. Could you get to the point?”

W: “So, some old rich people, since they can afford very good and expensive medical care, they could still alive by 2050.”

F: “None of my business!”

W: “According to UN etc., due to Global Warming and population, the earth wouldn’t be livable by 2050. Life then would be very, very tough. Death would be more preferable than trying to live.”

F: “So!”
W: “If we now start a club of ‘Get very Rich and really healthy; alive by 2050; die at the same time in 2050’, with member fee, we could be rich.”

F: “Why die at the same time?”

W: “For sake of fraternity love! Do you want to join me to start the club?”

F: I’m not wise enough!”

Dreams of a Male Dummy (144) Happy New Year! 恭喜發財!

E-mail Print PDF

Friend: “Happy New Year!”

Wiseman: “Happy New Year! Anything new?”

F: “Why do we say to each other ‘Happy New Year’ around New Year’s day? I mean why do we have the

word ‘happy’ in the phrase.”

W: “Because, in general, we are Not happy. Happiness is what we like most, is what we would like each

other to have most in the New Year.”

F: “Are you sure?”

W: “You know, where I come from, people say to each other ‘I wish you good fortune/Congratulations

on getting rich’ (恭喜發財) around New Year’s day. Why? Because people there, in general, are

struggling to make a living; they are not rich. What they wish most for themselves and each other is to

have enough money to have a decent life.”

ach other ‘Wise New Year! Wise Every day!’—considering how we

treat God, each other, ourselves, and the Earth, …?”

W: “You are getting wiser!”

Phrases: Why do people say Happy New Year and Merry ... But we can have good fortune and stay in a state of general wellbeing for the whole year, if we are fortunate (another meaning of 'happy;'). So it makes sense to wish someone a happy New Year; and it makes sense to wish someone either a happy or a merry Christmas.

What Does “Happy New Year” Even Really Mean? | Science ... The laws of nature, as we currently understand them, treat all moments as equally real. No one is picked out as special; the laws simply say how any moment relates to the previous one and to the next.

Dreams of a Male Dummy (143) The Root: Science? Scientist? Greed?

E-mail Print PDF

Friend phoned from Asia: “Hi—so you guys are finally getting the monster Hurricane, Eh?”

Wiseman: “Yes! You get it. I get it. It’s fair! The weather! The climate!…What’s going on?”

F: “Well …”

W: “My Professor Emeritus! My professor emeritus! I know, as a renowned scientist, you might not want to say something unnecessary, just for the sake of the money or fame.”

F: “But, I’m retired. Right!?”

W: “Exactly! Could you briefly let me know why we are getting this kind of weather?”

F: “OK. Let me try. We live in a universe which has science. Some, given the title of scientists, discovered some of the scientific laws. Some invented tools, utilizing them. And, we all use the tools greedily, abusing the resources …”

W: “So, now we have global warming, etc. And, consequently, we get what we asked for.”

F: “You deserve the title of Wiseman!”

W: “What is the root cause? Science? Scientists? Greed?

The friend’s spouse: “Scientists!”

F: “Greed!”

Dreams of a Male Dummy (141) Migration out of Earth

E-mail Print PDF

Friend: “A couple of weeks ago, I watched “Billionaire Space Club” on the Smithsonian
channel.  It’s quite interesting—and scary!”

Wise man:“Could you elaborate?”

F: “It’s interesting to know that human science & technology is so advanced!
It’s scary that the earth is getting so unlivable that we may soon have to
migrate—to leave this earth, and move to another planet.”

W: “Whenwe talk about migration from earth, we’re talking about something

that  presents a real challenge to science & technology! But what is more

challenging is the problem of how to make sure our greediness, corruption,

selfishness, etc., wouldn’t make the space trip impossible. And even more

difficult and challenging than that is finding ways to actually live on another

planet after we get there. You know, human nature is the reason our earth

is getting moreunlivable!”

F: “!@#$%!”

W: “I saw it too.  It’s a game by and for the elite: those very rich people, and
those very high-tech people. Right!?”

F: “Yes!”

W: “Do they think it’s morally okay for them to take away earth’s resources by

winning  a game that only they can play!? ”

F: “That’s what they seem to think. But I think they should use their science and
technology to make this earth more livable. We have to make them realize—

There is no Planet B."

W: “Yes, it’s not only morally the right thing to do, but it’s also necessary, if we

want to have a chance to make our planet livable. If we work together, we

may still have a chance to live here for a long, long time.”

F: “Forever!!!”

Dreams of a Male Dummy (140) What could we hope from the Ebola?

E-mail Print PDF

Friend: “Do you know that Time Magazine has chosen ‘The Ebola Fighters’ as its ‘Person of the Year’?”

Wiseman: “Of course. This could mean two things.”

F: “What are they?”

W: “Ebola is an extremely serious matter! And, we, the human beings who inhabit this earth, have recognized this, have put a lot of effort into dealing with it, and have accomplished quite a lot.”

F: “What could we hope from this devil virus?”

W: “We have the UN now, because of the Apocalypse of WWII. A similar idea of the UN had its actual inception during WWI, and the League of Nations was established. I guess, due to the fact that WWI was not horrible enough, it was short lived.”

F: “…”

W: “Since the Apocalypse of Ebola has been so deadly and horrible, we might be able to have a different attitude toward life, so that we could have peace of mind, a lovable environment, and a promising perspective.”

F: “I’m sorry, I don’t quite follow you.”

W: “Whenever we find ourselves in an extreme crisis, we always do our best to meet the challenge. And, during and after the crisis, some people might focus their brains on thinking about how to create a long-term solution. So, we have the UN. …”

F: “So, you mean after the Ebola crisis, we might have some kind of organization which promotes peace, love, and hope!?”

W: “At least, …. Be my guest!”

F: “You know soon we will face the challenges of Global Warming and Artificial Intelligence …

W: “We are facing Now!”
